In order to get the right treatment for your needs, the first step is to get a correct diagnosis. This can take time, and your Clinician will need to collect some more information first before they make a final determination. They may start by giving a provisional diagnosis, which is based on the symptoms first describe. The Clinician may later remove the provisional specifier after further evaluating your condition and ruling out other potential conditions, a process known as making a differential diagnosis.
Getting the right diagnosis is crucial to getting the right intervention, so Clinicians are careful when diagnosing any mental disorder. The provisional and differential diagnoses are two different steps in the process of diagnosing a mental health condition. They both serve essential, but differing, purposes.
We follow the international national gold standards for all of our mental health and specialist assessments. This may refer to ICD10 & DSM-5 diagnostic classifications, guidance from the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE), the Maudsley, the British Psychological Society, the National Autistic Society, UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN), NHS England and many others.

Mental Health Initial Assessment - £895: When a person is experiencing difficulties in their mental health, they may benefit from a mental health initial assessment. Through assessment and diagnosis, we offer appropriate treatment options that can provide the support that the person needs. Initial assessments involve a comprehensive review by a Psychiatrist and Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This involves detailed discussions around the person’s current difficulties, exploration of their mental health and past history, pre-screening questionnaires, clinical history interview, SCID-5 clinical interviews and other specialised clinical tools (diagnosis specific), feedback session & report with advice, strategies and recommendations - View Availability & Book
MMPI-II/MMPI-III, MMPI-A Test and Report - £1150: The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) is one of the most commonly used internationally. It contains a variety of true/false questions that are scored on a scale used to describe a person’s mental processes.
